Pocket Rockets Traffic Racer Dash Review

The traffic racing trend has been around now for a few years, with many games following the movement in hopes of success and prosperity. Because of this effect , however; we are sitting with an over saturated market of clones that aren’t as good as the original games that inspired the market to begin with. The problem these games face is usually the same – originality. There is a shortage of ideas meant to add to the experiences. This isn’t just true for the racing genre, its true in every genre. Pocket rockets Traffic Racer Dash tries its hand at something new within this popular trend.

The game handles like most of the traffic racer games out there. A simple tap down on the side and the car goes in that held direction. The controls feel a bit clunky at times though , which can be a real pity. Overall though , the interface works relatively well. The other controls are interface based being the boost button and a few other elements.

The game makes use of the low poly or polygonal style that we’ve seen so much of recently. It looks comparably pretty with bold colors and atmospheric levels. Everything is randomly generated as you run through the levels so your surroundings never look too similar. There is quite a depth to the difference in themes the game introduces in the variable levels. From playing in the heat of the dry desert to challenging your scores in the slippery slopes of snowy mountains. The shading in the game is beautiful with everything being shaded with an atmospheric effect.

There are a handful of vehicles to unlock ranging from tiny go-carts to massive imposing tanks. All of these are up-gradable and will massively improve your selected vehicle in terms of speed , health and boost. The boost is used as a speed increase while you race through the traffic. The game introduces quite a variety in traffic types and obstacles to avoid, such as bigger vehicles. This is where this title attempts to be unique , in the traffic collision itself. Instead of avoiding the traffic you are encouraged to bump and smash into them! Just avoid the trucks! The mechanics are relatively simple , just drive and have fun!

All in all its a very enjoyable title with a few hiccups along the way. The game doesn’t always feel great but when it does it works great. Smashing into cars is oddly relaxing and avoiding trucks and obstacles adds an element of challenge to the mix. Its not an extremely challenging title but as with these they never really are. This is a good game for a bit of fun and relaxation , just dont expect the novelty to last forever.
